Domino Showcases Efficiency-Saving Capabilities of New High Speed V400 Thermal Transfer Printer
Friday 28. May 2010 - World leading provider of complete product to pallet coding solutions, Domino UK Ltd (stand no. 5615), will use this years Total Exhibition to demonstrate the exciting opportunities achievable with its new V400 high-speed, thermal transfer printer (TTO), designed specifically for horizontal multilane packaging machines.
The latest addition to Dominos V-Series range, the V400 traversing TTO printer ensures easy installation onto thermoforming and tray sealing machines and fulfils wide-area print requirements up to 130mm x 580mm on intermittent, multi-lane flexible packaging applications. Available with a choice of both 2″ (53mm) or 5″ (128mm) printheads, the versatile V400 offers clean, durable and low maintenance printing, making it particularly ideal for food printing applications.
Delivering a print resolution of 300dpi, the V400 applies precise, high quality variable data including text, bar codes, Data Matrix and logos, at speeds up to 800 mm/sec – making it compatible with the fastest production lines. Easy to retrofit, the V400 also features Domino’s patented ribbon economy system, which enables manufacturers to save up to 60% on ribbon usage without reducing print resolution.
The V400 offers a new concept in TTO, in that it does not require a dedicated controller but can be operated from any PC based user interface running a standard internet browser. As a result, one or more printers can be controlled by an existing OEM packaging machine interface, a PC / laptop or the optional Domino touchscreen, offering lower capital cost benefits and a high degree of installation flexibility.
Like all V-Series printers, the V400 has unique, simple to use label creation software on board, eliminating the need for extra software and unnecessary operating complexity. The unit includes simple, maintenance free dancing arm technology providing consistent tension between new and used ribbon spools, which prevents ribbon breakage and ensures responsiveness in high-speed applications, resulting in less maintenance, increased uptime and higher production speeds.
Increased Efficiencies via Patented Ribbon Economy System
The V400 includes a patented ribbon economy feature which offers ribbon savings of up to 60%, without compromising on print resolution. This innovative system works by slowing down the ribbon speed in relation to the web speed, which means that a shorter length of ribbon is required to create each print. As a result, the number of ribbon changeovers is reduced while production line uptime is increased. In addition, combined with Dominos unique ribbon auto-retraction system, which ensures less than 1mm gap between the prints on the ribbon roll, huge consumable cost savings are enjoyed thanks to minimised ribbon waste.
Furthermore, the V400 offers the highest-capacity ribbon rolls currently available – up to 1,400 metres – again resulting in reduced changeover and increased uptime. These are available in a wide range of grades, colours and widths, adding to the flexibility of the printers performance and suitability for a wide range of web materials and industry applications.
The V400 can be complemented by TotalCare plus, Dominos comprehensive, tailored sales and support package. Designed to suit the varying needs of its TTO customers, TotalCare plus is a modular offering, which covers a full range of support services, including technical support, training, servicing and warranties, consumables and after sales products.
Robert Van der Most, Product Director for Dominos V-Series, says “Thanks to its high-speed, wide-print area and unique ribbon saving technology, the functionality and productivity of the V400 make it ideal for flexible food packaging applications. This, together with Dominos hallmark reputation for reliability and robustness ensures the V400 delivers huge benefit to our customers by improving the overall effectiveness of their manufacturing operations.”
