Increased speed of the Xeikon 8000 brings new capabilities to document printing markets
Monday 24. May 2010 - Parajett benefits from the unique combination of superior quality and speed of 260 ppm
Xeikon, a division of Punch Graphix, is pleased to announce that its Swedish customer Parajett is already taking advantage of the enhanced printing speed of the Xeikon 8000, now upgraded to deliver speeds of up to 260 ppm or 19m/minute. As one of the beta-testers, Parajett is excited with the ability to produce an impressive 1300 full-colour A4 pages per minute over its five Xeikon 8000 presses.
Parajett is a communication solutions provider based in Landskrona in the south of Sweden with a key focus on quality and service. The company offers a wide range of solutions based on traditional print, digital print and finishing. Parajetts partnership with Xeikon began with the installation of the Xeikon 6000 early 2008, followed by four Xeikon 8000 presses mid 2008 and recently a fifth Xeikon 8000 machine in order to increase their capacity. The combination of high-quality and speed offered by the Xeikon 8000 has always been a key factor for Parajett and allowed them to produce a digitally printed nationwide transpromotional application for ICA AB, a leading food retailer in Sweden and Norway. Along with their monthly statements, ICA customers now receive customised discounts on selected products tailored specifically them.
“We need to produce the ICA documents every month, and do so within a deadline of 5-6 days. Originally the production run was 6 million A4 full-colour pages. Today, this has grown to more than 7 million. Our target was to manage this extra capacity within the same deadline,” explains Per Larsson, Sales and Marketing Manager at Parajett. “The Xeikon 8000 delivers the outstanding quality required for this application. Along with the enhanced speed, this offers us the perfect solution. With a combined speed of the five Xeikon 8000 presses, we are now able to print and finish a total of 1300 A4 pages per minute. Thanks to the speed improvement, were again able to deliver the same service without the need to extend deadlines.”
Xeikon 8000 at higher speeds
The Xeikon 8000 has been specifically designed for the most demanding high-volume transactional and transpromotional applications. With its top printing speed now increased to 260 ppm or 19m/minute – combined with true 1200 dpi at 4 bits per spot and a duty cycle of 10 million A4 pages per month – the Xeikon 8000 delivers an extremely powerful combination of speed, print quality and near-continuous uptime.
To achieve the increased printing speed, engines will need to be upgraded to the new Xeikon QA-P toner. All existing Xeikon 8000s can be field upgraded to this capability, with the change over commencing in July 2010. For the document and commercial printing markets, QA-P toner delivers an increased colour gamut, in addition to enabling an increased engine speed for the Xeikon 8000.
“The demand for full-colour, high quality transpromotional and direct marketing pieces is increasing worldwide,” says Danny Mertens, Business Development Manager Document Printing. “Production demands tend to vary, however, with high-volumes peaks needing to be produced within very short timeframes. The ICA application at Parajett is a good example of this. With the increased speed of the Xeikon 8000, we are happy to offer printing service providers the ability to manage these high-volume peak productions – and do so without compromising on quality.”
Visitors at Ipex can experience the increased speed of the Xeikon 8000 on the Xeikon stand C230 in Hall 11.
