Canon and Océ announce initial integration steps
Monday 24. May 2010 - Canon and Océ announced today initial integration steps following the announcement of 16th November 2009 to join forces, creating a global leader in the printing industry. The combination capitalises on an excellent complementary fit in product mix, channel mix, R&D and business lines.
Canon and Océ customers have reacted positively to the news of the merger, many already expressing interest in tailored solutions combining hardware, software and services from both companies.
Canon and Océ are working together on integration planning at both global and regional levels, using their combined strengths to create greater customer value and bring new technologies to the printing industry.
Customers will benefit from a broader range of print services through access to both product portfolios. Longer term Canon and Océ will consider customers future business requirements ensuring customers have access to leading technology through the best channel.
At IPEX 2010, visitors will see for the first time examples of how customers will benefit in Europe.
Technology integration
Océ will exhibit the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP connected to Océ PRISMAprepare prepress software, showing how the two companies leading technologies can be integrated. This demonstration is one example of Canon and Océs technologies already working together, and as the integration progresses, the two companies will jointly plan for further combinations of production print workflows, both in hardware and software.
Canons Helix production workflow and Océs PRISMA suite are both complete software solutions for production print environments, addressing customers total workflow needs. Helix production workflow has been designed to support in house print environments. The Océ PRISMA software suite supports in-house and commercial print customers operating in professional print production environments. Each solution is flexible and capable of handling a broad variety of print production needs while using open standards to protect Canon and Océs customers investments.
Cross sales opportunities
First steps have been taken for the integration of product portfolios in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region: Canon products will be launched in the Océ sales channels over the course of the second half of this year, and Océ products will be launched in the Canon channels within a similar timeframe.
One example of complementary products is the combination of the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP and the Océ VarioPrint 6320 Ultra. An ideal combination of production technologies to meet customer demands for high quality and fast turnaround in printing operations; both will be on display at the Océ booth at IPEX.
At IPEX, Canon and Océ will work together to ensure Océ customers can purchase imagePRESS C6000 and C7000VP machines, with full sales and service support for the ever increasing demands of production printing.
Further short term cross sales plans between Canon Europe and Océ are in development, while wider global integration planning is underway.
