Doveton Press makes opening day visit to sign for new Anicolor
Thursday 20. May 2010 - Doveton Press will be the first UK company to sign for the new shorter delivery Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor. Brothers Mark and Gavin Savage have investigated the new specification and decided on a five-colour press to replace its four-colour with coater which has clocked up a staggering 40 million in three years.
“We are achieving the same quality today on the Anicolor as we were 40 million impressions ago. We love the technology,” says Gavin Savage. “Now customers are demanding more special colours, metallics drip off and seals and when we heard that there was a shorter version which would allow us to fit a five-colour in our factory it took no persuasion for us to come to Ipex today to sign for the press.
“Before we couldnt have fitted this press but with the high pile feeder and shorter delivery it is now possible. When we heard that this press was being launched at Ipex we were really excited and immediately committed to coming here to see it and to sign for one.”
Brother Mark Savage says: “The first Anicolor has doubled our output, enabling us to generate 12 rather than six jobs per eight hour shift. We run the press 24 hours three days of the week and 12 hours for another three days and the new press will replicate that.
“It is a green press. Over the past three years we have required less than 20 sheets per job before getting to sellable copy and that has cut our paper bill by 20% and our start up waste ink is down 90% as well. What you see in repro is what you get off the press.”
The shorter delivery reduces the length of this press by 80cm. Doveton will run the Anicolor using conventional inks alongside a SM 52-2. The Bristol company offers a design to delivery litho and digital printing service for a wide range of commercial, industrial, public and entertainments markets.
