Wednesday 19. May 2010 - Exclusive survey data provides insight into popular imaging trends
Keeping up-to-date about the latest innovative technologies is imperative to stay competitive in today’s changing industry. SGIA’s first-ever 2010 Industry Technology Adoption Survey report offers an in-depth look at the newest trends in the specialty imaging community.
The full report, free to SGIA members and all survey participants, reveals:
-Emerging technology for graphic, garment and industrial printers
-Anticipated shifts in printing processes
-Technology used to produce the most popular products
According to the US report, 50 percent of graphic imagers use both screen printing and digital imaging processes, while only five percent are screen-only facilities and 46 percent are digital-only. The report also shows that screen printers will continue to add digital technology, however most digital printers will not be adding screen printing capability.
The survey also asked where the future of printing is headed. Garment decorators in the US plan to utilize online design capability for customers and add more digital printing technology, while garment decorators in Canada hope to renovate existing business locations or relocate to larger areas.
Survey participants also indicated which problems need to be solved in the printing industry. Industrial imagers in the US want improved color matching for spot/PMS colors, while Canadian industrial imagers want to increase the speed of digital production.
