All personnel at Metso’s Tamfelt-units included under labor union agreements with The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries

Wednesday 12. May 2010 - Tamfelt Corp., Tamfelt PMC Corp. and Tamfelt Filtration Corp., all part of Metso Corporation, have been accepted as members in The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries as of January 27, 2010. The prevailing labor union agreement of the Technology Industries is binding for all member companies of the Federation, thus including also Metso, all Tamfelt companies, and Tamfelt employees in Finland.

At Tamfelt’s Tampere plant, the Technology Industry agreements will apply for all personnel groups. For professional and managerial staff, the agreement has already been applied since January 27, 2010. For other office staff, it has been agreed that the agreement will apply as of May 1, 2010.

For shop floor workers, the Technology Industry agreement is valid since March 5, 2010, and in wage calculation it will be applied as of May 1, 2010. No wages will be reduced because of the change on an annual level, but the earnings will be the same or higher than earlier. The changes in wages will apply backwards as well, for March 5 – April 30, 2010. Depending on the working hour schemes, the annual wages will remain stable or be higher than earlier, but, however, there may be some changes.

The personnel representatives for Tampere plant shop floor workers have informed the employer that they will not accept the change.

At Juankoski plant, the Technology Industry agreements have already been applied earlier for all personnel groups.
