Media Companies Demonstrate Mobile Innovation
Tuesday 04. May 2010 - A common philosophy unites all the experts who will speak at the annual Mobile Media Day conference, to be held on 18-19 May in Amsterdam: users set the terms in todays media market and aggressive product development is needed to meet their pace and needs.
They all believe in going for bold initiatives, while generating incremental revenue at the same time.
Take Matt Jones, the Vice President for Mobile Strategy and Operations at Gannet Digital/USA Today. The companys mobile applications and services provides an industry-leading example of how to reinvent a strong media brand while holding on to its fundamental strength. His next step is the iPad: some talk about it, but Mr Jones can already demonstrate its value and describe user feedback.
The rhythm of innovation has also been quick at Independent Digital, the online arm of Independent Newspapers in Ireland, and at Italy-based RCS Digital. Patrick Lenehan, the Chief Technology Officer for Independent Digital, and Federico Vittadello, Head of mobile and on-line VAS at RCS, will present facts and figures about their paid-services initiatives.
The conference will also feature a case study of Seloger.com, a leading real estate classifieds portal in Europe, which has reinforced its position and increased revenues though mobile value added services. Frédéric Toquin, the Director for Portals and Innovation, will demonstrate how media companies can connect their traditional source of revenues to the mobile experience.
There is still time to register; full details can be found at www.ifra.com/mobilemediaday.
