Agfa Graphics today announced that at IPEX in Birmingham, UK, 18-25 the company will display its full array of newspaper solutions, including the new :Arkitex 7 workflow software, :Advantage N family of CtP systems, chemistry-free plates, ink-saving technology and image enhancement software.
New :Arkitex workflow software
Agfa will show the latest addition to the :Arkitex family of newspaper software, :Arkitex Portal. :Arkitex Portal is designed to provide tighter integration between printers and their customers, giving more control and visibility to the publisher without directly interfering with the production system. :Arkitex Portal provides fast and easy page submission, soft proofing and approval of pages. Portal also integrates fully into any :Arkitex system allowing the printer to provide value-added services, such as image optimization, ink savings, and preflight processing, all without increasing labour costs. The latest version of :Arkitex workflow, version 7, provides a number of new features and benefits: softproof comparison which quickly highlights differences between various versions of a page or different pages, flip-book softproofing which helps ensure that all of the pages are properly recognized and are in the correct order, and soft/hard proof furniture which is useful for visually confirming that page content is properly positioned. In addition to the traditional 2-, 4- and 8-up imposition, :Arkitex 7 also supports 3- and 6-up impositions for newer presses or for older retrofit presses. The new software also controls the sequence of plate production supporting presses with automatic plate loading systems or customers requiring output of many plates in a predefined order.
:Advantage N CtP
Agfa Graphics Advantage N family of CtP systems is designed to handle conventional as well as chemistry-free violet plates. :Advantage N meets the needs of short, medium and long run newspapers and hybrid printers that require a high volume of plates on short deadlines. The :Advantage N accommodates high-volume users, producing up to 300 plates per hour continuously, every day. Optional Direct Load (DL) and Trolley (TR) features load multiple formats, providing on-line plate-loading flexibility.
:Arkitex OptiInk and IntelliTuneX
The new version of :Arkitex OptiInk increases printing quality while reducing costs. It features Agfa’s unique intelligent source recognition to attain the most faithful colour reproduction even if the PDF is incorrectly separated and the profile is not known, maximising the ink saving even further.
IntelliTuneX features Adaptive Contrast Enhancement (ACE), intelligent image processing capability. It achieves maximum quality even for images with both bright highlights and dark shadows.
