imageData Group returns to technotrans for second filtration unit
Monday 26. April 2010 - Reduced press downtime is the key to imageData Groups return to technotrans for a second beta.f filtration system just a year after taking delivery of the first.
David Danforth, its chief executive, says: “There is a reduction in the amount of dampening solution used but this in itself would not cost justify the purchase. The key is in the reduction in press downtime, the fact we have to change over solution and replace filters every three to six months rather than on a weekly basis. That is the real benefit.”
The beta.f is one of technotrans family of fine filtration units which continuously operates in bypass to the dampening solution circulator. Its two-step filtration method permanently keeps the dampening solution cycle free of contamination giving users both a quality of print and productivity benefit.
imageData Group returned to technotrans having had good experience with both its ink.trac ink levelling and control system and the first beta.f, both installed about a year ago.
“Having a single source of supply and service is an asset,” says Mr Danforth. “Having matching systems gives you back up and also operators are familiar with the technology and that is a help, too.”
Another consideration for the print group has been environmental impact. Graham Stamp, operations manager at the Willerby site, is keen to point out the systems benefits in this area. “The cleanliness of on-press chemistry is particularly important to imageData Group. As part of our environmental policy our production presses are all alcohol-free, so the beta.f is a great help from that point of view.”
imageData Group, headquartered in Willerby, near Hull, has litho, screen and small to large format digital printing technologies. It has a large national client portfolio with a strong position in the retail and public sector service markets.
