Future Pack invests in post-press label inspection system from PRATI
Monday 26. April 2010 - The PRATI SATURN TE 330 has helped Future Pack to be successful in their worldwide activity of label production
Future Pack, one of the largest label printers in the United Arab Emirates and a division of the Emirates National Factory for Plastic Industries (ENPI), has installed the PRATI SATURN TE 330 slitter inspection rewinder.
A leader in packaging decorations, Future Pack was founded in 2006 and has now 180 employees and sales offices in Germany, Spain, France and Syria. They are part of the ENPI group which has been operating for more than 18 years on catering to leading manufacturers in GCC, Middle East, Africa and European markets with a total of 10 factories and over 1000 employees.
Future Pack manufacture a wide range of packaging products from self-adhesive labels, shrink sleeves and aluminum foil lids to sandwich wraps and paper & plastic cups. Their clients are typically manufacturers of oils, dairy products, purified water, health and beauty products as well as airlines. Some of the better-known household names include Unilever and Luminarc.
Future Packs state-of-the art production facilities include no less than eight printing machines, a coating unit for aluminium foil, three punching machines and six slitting machines which all complement its extensive knowledge in the field of printing on paper, foil and plastics.
Easy to use and compact
Errors such as missing a label, or a color as well as a matrix waste occur too frequently in label printing even if the label printer does everything to prevent these problems on the label reel. To address these issues Future Pack invested in PRATIs SATURN TE 330 slitter inspection rewinder back in 2007. Chinna Durai, Country Manager at Future Pack explains: “I saw the PRATI SATURN TE 330 at an exhibition in Dubai and was impressed. Its a very compact, user-friendly machine and more efficient than some of the other options in the market.”
Future Pack uses the SATURN TE 330 in the post-production of paper and filmic labels as well as on 38 and 64 micron unsupported film labels. Chinna Durai continues: “We really like the easy handling of this machine especially when it comes to loading the reels and setting the knives. Its well suited to narrow coils and much faster than our other slitting machines and the quality of the finished product is excellent.”
A solid and reliable solution for label inspection
The SATURN TE330 slitter inspection rewinder enables winding, inspection, rewinding, slitting on a wide range of pressure sensitive labels, unsupported paper, cardboard, as well as aluminum. The machine is fully servo-motorized and was designed to meet the needs of the majority of narrow web printers as it can process webs width up to 330 mm. It is a great cost-saving investment combining mechanical precision with electronic technology. For paper and transparent substrates, the electronic web guide comes equipped with ultrasonic sensor for easy process as well as the IR cell for counting with silk spot labels. The touch-screen monitor guarantees ease-of-use and a self-diagnostic software informs the user about any specific stops or problems ensuring optimum levels of quality.
Installation of the machine at Future Pack was very straight-forward, Chinna Durai comments: “It was really plug-and-play. We were up and running the following day. PRATI has a local agent in UAE – Printech – and they deal with all our after-sales queries.”
“We are now looking at adding an inkjet print-head to allow us to overprint variable data such as barcodes and product codes. This will further improve productivity and efficiency,” concludes Durai.
