Toray to present Waterless Technology at IPEX

Wednesday 21. April 2010 - High-end packaging segment benefits from improved productivity and  exceptional quality.

Toray Industries Inc., a leading manufacturer of waterless CTP plates today announced it will be showcasing products printed with waterless technology at IPEX. Toray will be located in Hall 6, Stand D558 at the show.

“We are excited to be participating in IPEX, a global event for print, publishing and media,” said Mr. Toshimitsu Matsumoto, General Manager of the Graphic Systems Department at Toray Industries, Inc. “This year our own recently strengthened European technical staff is teaming up with the ink experts from our newly appointed UK distributor, Classic Graphics, Ltd., to provide one-on-one consultations with visitors to our stand on how to implement waterless printing for innovative solutions. We believe waterless UV technology, which has proved so effective in providing quality enhancement and cost savings on expensive non- absorbent substrates such as synthetic materials, can benefit the high end packaging printer in the manufacture of value-added products.”

High quality, environmentally friendly

Toray printing plates incorporate a silicone coating to replace the dampening solution normally used in conventional offset printing. This printing system not only enables an environmentally friendly operation by eliminating harmful press room chemicals but also improves productivity. Reduced dot gain and absence of water produce exceptional sharp and brilliant images.

Waterless offset printing provides:

· High resolution prints with higher contrast, greater color gamut , better color consistency and less dot gain, resulting in brighter, cleaner and sharper images.

· Improved competitive  position of printing companies by expanding their product range, reducing waste and increasing productivity.

· The most environmentally friendly printing process available, with no dampening solution chemicals and lower VOC emissions in the pressroom. Printers and print buyers alike can differentiate their products from others by using the butterfly logo which stands for ecological printing.

“Visitors to the Toray stand will have a hands-on opportunity to examine the quality of products printed with waterless technology,” added Mr. Matsumoto.  “This includes UV-cured prints, microprint security features, high resolution images, packaging, and prints with water soluble bleeding inks. We welcome our visitors to the Toray stand for Japanese-style hospitality and refreshments.”
