Special book signing and a new chapter in book printing
Océ solutions add value to the ways print professionals create, manage, personalize, print and deliver content. An end-to-end digital book solution features advanced workflow software and highly productive Océ VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system. Attendees can observe firsthand:
Sophisticated book production and post-processing
Automated production of complex manuals
Duplex printed tabs and color inserts
Dr. Joe Webb and Richard Romano will sign “hot off the digital press” copies of their new book, Disrupting the Future at 2PM Tuesday, April 20 in Océ Booth 925. The volumes are being produced on the Océ VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system as a live demonstration of on-demand short run book publishing. The signed books will be given to booth visitors, compliments of Océ.
In addition, the award-winning Océ ColorStream 10000 Flex system, a high-speed black & white, continuous feed printer with full-color capability, will show Océ flexibility for advanced full color book production and finishing solutions.
Océ PRISMA software drives live workflows
Océ PRISMA software will power three live workflows throughout the booth. The first highlights the power of automation to streamline on demand book printing and reprinting. Users improve process efficiency, accelerate turnaround and reduce costs. The combination of Océ PRISMAwebTM and , Océ PRISMAproduction software to automate job submission and management, teamed with new workflow software capabilities for batch production, PDF bar-coding, scan-to-reprint capabilities vastly simplifies book production. Book blocks are soft-proofed on-screen using Océ TrueProof software. Users see a virtual proof print instead of a hard-copy proof from a printer. Users get the information they need without wasting toner, paper, time and click charges.
Also, a harmonized workflow demonstration will drive the Océ VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system. The Océ PRISMAsyncTM controller maximizes productivity and cost efficiency in multi-engine environments. The third Océ PRISMA workflow adds automation to job submission, preparation, make-ready and printing. Océ PRISMAaccessTM, Océ PRISMAprepareTM and Océ PRISMAarchive software team up to maximize the performance of advanced digital printers.
Workflow automation for book production
Booth visitors can see how automated book production workflow helps print providers monitor service level agreements automatically. Users can:
Prioritize jobs approaching deadline
Reduce setup time and finishing device setup
Minimize roll changes, print book covers and book blocks on demand
Launch reprints as needed
On the show floor in Booth 925, Océ PRISMAproduction software will receive JDF files containing order information from Océ PRISMAweb software or a customer’s MIS system, grab the PDF files for the book covers and book blocks, and:
Add tracking barcodes to covers and interior pages
Group the jobs based on specific parameters
Direct them to the desired device for printing
Océ PRISMAproduction Batch Manager feature groups jobs based on parameters to improve process efficiency. Customers can gang multiple jobs with the same book format or paper. Jobs are collected in “baskets” before being released to printer workflow. Barcoded jobs can be tracked throughout the workflow and automatically reprinted.
Fastest flatbed and other wide format innovations
In Booth 925, Océ Wide Format Printing Systems will showcase two innovative solutions for display graphics and technical document applications. ON DEMAND attendees can see the new Océ Arizona 550 GT UV-curable flatbed printer, the fastest member of the award-winning Océ Arizona Series. With the highest print quality in the market, it easily handles peak demand for rush jobs and offers better value than comparable systems.
Designed as a true flatbed system, the Océ Arizona 550 GT printer can print on a variety of rigid substrates as large as 49.2″ by 98.4″ and up to two inches thick. A Roll Media Option makes wide format printing possible on flexible media up to 86.6″ wide. The Océ Arizona 550 GT printer includes a White Ink Option for printing onto non-white media or objects. When used with transparent media, users can create stunning backlit images.
The Océ ProCut 2500L digital cutting system will be shown alongside the Océ Arizona 550 GT printer for automated finishing of rigid and roll-based wide format prints. This complete system of hardware, software, consulting and service reduces labor and materials costs in the finishing stage, while enabling customers to increase productivity levels and profit margins. It also opens the door to new business opportunities, as customers can offer a wider range of services.
The acclaimed Océ ColorWave 600 system with its revolutionary solid toner Océ CrystalPoint technology will produce complex color maps typical of today’s GIS applications. In addition, the Océ ColorWave 600 printer will be shown with Posterizer software, in an easy-to-use, fully integrated Point of Purchase (POP) retail signage solution. Print-for-pay firms can offer retailers a cost-effective, fast turnaround option for short-term, disposable signage that enhances in-store marketing and merchandising. The Océ ColorWave 600 printer requires no drying time and prints on uncoated media, so even high-color-coverage posters and signage can be handled immediately with print costs kept low.
