WAN-IFRA Ibérica 2010: The Publishing World Comes To Madrid
Tuesday 20. April 2010 - Some of the worlds leading news publishing companies will be gathering in Madrid next month for the 2nd annual WAN-IFRA Ibérica conference, an event that has already emerged as a key meeting for the Ibero-American publishing industry.
It has done so by focusing on the emerging issues facing newspapers and news publishers everywhere – mobile delivery, social networks, lean production, e-readers, advertising innovations and more.
Hosted by the new WAN-IFRA CEO, Christopher Riess, and the President of the World Editors Forum, Xavier Vidal-Folch, the conference, to be held on 5 and 6 May next in the Husa Princesa hotel in Madrid, will be held in English, Spanish and Portuguese and will feature a wide variety of case studies from innovative news publishing companies world-wide. Speakers include:
Marcelo Benez, Advertising Director of Folha de Sao Paulo, who will present “Innovations and Trends in Newspaper Advertising,” a case study of his companys advertising initiatives.
Morten Holst, Head of Mobile at Verdens Gang in Norway, the Schibsted-owned newspaper company that pioneered mobile delivery and mobile audience engagement.
Meg Pickard, Head of Social Media Development for Guardian News and Media, who will show how to optimize the relationship between newspapers and social networks.
Moritz Schwarz, a Senior Consultant for Newspaper Production with WAN-IFRA and a noted expert on “lean production” – automation, cost-cutting and revenue opportunities from the production side of the business.
Michael Read, European Managing Director for the internet marketing research company ComScore, who will examine whether E-readers are the future of the industry.
A round table discussion on paid content and new revenue generation models in digital markets in which some of the most important media groups in Spain, including Unidad Editorial (El Mundo en Orbyt), Vocento (ABC), elconfidencial.com, and Iogenia Digital (La Información/Grupo Heraldo), will present new groundbreaking cases in the digital realm.
