The Garvey Group Enjoys Litho Quality Printed Digitally with Truepress Jet2500UV

Monday 12. April 2010 - Savvy business owners have a knack for identifying technological innovations that allow them to meet their customers' diverse needs. The Garvey Group found an exceptional production solution in the Screen Truepress Jet2500UV.

One of the Midwest’s leading graphic communications organizations, Niles, Ill.-based Garvey Group caters to a broad customer base with its eclectic mix of products. The firm boasts four facilities ? the main plant in the Chicago suburbs and three satellite locations in Wisconsin. The Truepress Jet2500UV added grand-format UV inkjet printing capabilities to the commercial, packaging and plastics printing that takes place at the Milwaukee location.

“The primary reason we purchased the Truepress Jet2500UV was to capture that level of work in small quantities that don’t really fit lithographic printing,” said company President and Owner Ed Garvey. “Some projects that are available to us withstand digital production, but we needed digital output that closely resembled the quality of our litho output. The very high image resolution and output quality of the Truepress match the color between litho printing and digital printing.”

The Garvey Group utilizes 56-inch, 64-inch and 81-inch sheetfed presses at the Niles facility and 41-inch equipment at the Milwaukee plant. The headquarters location specializes in point-of-purchase display printing and package printing.

“The size of the Truepress complements and, in fact, expands upon the large-format litho capabilities at the Niles facility,” Garvey noted. “Once the equipment hit the floor, we discovered there were opportunities outside our network we could provide an answer for.”

In-store posters, signage, backlit displays and small production runs of prototypes and sales samples can be printed cost-effectively with high visual impact on the Truepress Jet2500UV, according to Garvey.

“Contrast in-store marketing materials with billboards, for instance,” he said. “As opposed to looking at a billboard from a distance, customers can view the retail displays and signage up close and see how well the Truepress represents the products. They are really seeing litho quality printed digitally. In those smaller quantities, the Truepress offers a much better output answer than a traditional digital machine.”

Garvey said his company’s long history with Screen was integral to the decision to install the Truepress Jet2500UV. The Garvey Group over the years has acquired conventional prepress equipment, scanners and thermal platesetters.

“It is no small matter to have a partner we can rely on,” Garvey said. “Screen is an extremely competent and professional organization. Screen’s ability to support The Garvey Group and ensure that equipment is installed quickly and properly is outstanding. We are very happy to work with them.”

Screen (USA) will demonstrate the Truepress Jt2500UV in booth #1776 at the ISA International Sign Expo 2010 in Orlando, Fla.
