Xitron, the prepress industry’s leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, RIP management and prepress workflow software today announced the availability of Xenith Sierra 2.5, a prepress workflow based on Adobe PDF Print Engine technology.

Xenith Sierra 2.5 improves production in prepress by increasing automation and reducing the chance for common operator errors with features that include:

§ Adobe PDF Print Engine 2.0

§ Integration with Metrix planning and ganging software

§ Support for device linked profiles

§ Media profiles for Xitron’s X1 TotalProof inkjet media

§ Connectivity with PRINTERnet – Xitron’s Web-to-Print solution

§ Archive module supporting manual and automated archiving based on job criteria

Xenith Sierra is the premier workflow offering in Xitron’s line of RIP and workflow solutions. Based on JDF and the Adobe PDF Print Engine technology, Xenith Sierra is an excellent solution for larger printers who need comprehensive control over every job, while automating prepress tasks, Xenith Sierra provides the tools and power to substantially increase throughput, improve quality, reduce errors, and maximize performance. Xenith Sierra supports more than 250 output devices from various manufacturers including proofers, imagesetters, platesetters, digital presses, and production copiers.

“Xenith Sierra 2.5 incorporates many of the product features requested by our users,” stated Mark Eisenschenk, Xitron’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Xenith Sierra offers significant automation and productivity capabilities demanded by busy prepress departments.”

Xenith Sierra also provides connectivity to PRINTERnet, Xitron’s new web-to-print, online job submission, preflighting and proofing solution. PRINTERnet enhances prepress department capabilities by connecting directly to clients through a highly automated web-based system. Jobs are submitted through a simple user interface with basic job ticket information entered by the customer. This information is then sent along with the job to the printer’s CSR or prepress department.

Special upgrade programs for existing Xenith 4PDF, Xenith Extreme and Xenith Sierra users are being offered through June 30, 2010. Xenith Sierra users with a Xitron TotalCare Platinum Support Agreement will receive Xenith Sierra 2.5 at no charge as a part of their support program.
