COLOROBBIA AND XAAR FORGE GLOBAL INK PARTNERSHIP

Tuesday 30. March 2010 - Ceramic inks vendor Colorobbia signs partnership agreement with Xaar

Xaar, the leading independent manufacturer of industrial inkjet printheads, announced today that Colorobbia Italia Spa and Colorobbia Espana S.A. have been appointed official Xaar Ink Partners. The companies have been collaborating since 2008 and Colorobbia’s high-quality inks for the ceramics market are now fully Xaar-approved.

Inkjet printing is bringing huge benefits to the ceramics industry. These include high-quality printing that is reliable, cost effective and efficient for short run production with minimal waste. The latest Xaar 1001 greyscale printhead is proving extremely popular for demanding ceramic printing applications, with six major OEMs producing tile-printing machines with this printhead. Designed for high-speed, single-pass applications, the Xaar 1001 is based on Xaar’s patented Hybrid Side-Shooter (HSS), TF Technology design. Its ‘through-flow’ design ensures any air or particles are moved away from the nozzles, keeping the channel primed and operational for consistent and reliable printing, even with abrasive frit-based inks.

With headquarters in Italy and production facilities worldwide, Colorobbia specialises in the production and distribution of material and technologies for traditional and advanced industrial ceramics industries. “Inkjet ceramic tile decoration is a relatively new and very promising technique which brings important commercial advantages when compared with traditional processes. It produces highly defined designs, enables fast change-over between jobs and lower production costs,” says Ivo Sereni, Director, Colorobbia Italia Spa. “Consequently we are dedicating important resources to ceramic inkjet development and our partnership with Xaar is part of this commitment.”

Marguerite Quinn, Ink Product Manager at Xaar says: “Inkjet printing of ceramics is exploding, and we are delighted to be working with Colorobbia, an important supplier to the ceramic market worldwide. This agreement is part of our ‘open’ ink strategy to give OEMs the flexibility to choose the digital ink suppliers that best meet their needs.”
