Agfa Graphics installed 6000 :Apogee Systems
Wednesday 24. February 2010 - New PDF Workflow Suite boost performance with 30%
Graphics announced today that more than 6000 :Apogee Systems are being used worldwide. Version 6.0 is available to its users since early 2009. Agfa reports that all new installs take advantage of all newest features and over 30% of the existing users have upgraded their system since then.
With :Apogee Suite 6.0, Agfa Graphics offers a series of new applications as well as changes in the core of the system. These result in a dramatic performance increase.
“With :Apogee PrePress 6.0 which has the latest Adobe PDF Renderer (APPE 2.0) we noticed that we could process even more pages with only 2 Task Processors rather than 3 or 4 on :Apogee 5.0”, said Jamie Awford, Prepress manager at Stephens and George Print Group. “We are no different to any other printing company: the customer continues to demand a quicker turnaround time for their jobs and with the latest technology in our pressroom we are under pressure to get jobs processed faster.”
“We are very pleased with 6000 :Apogee systems in the market, a number which continues to grow steadily. :Apogee has pioneered back then when PDF started, and when JDF was introduced in our industry,” explains Erik Peeters, Product Manager for :Apogee at Agfa Graphics. “Recent business decisions like :Apogees’ own preflight technology and the automation of Ink-Saving drive the development to specific market and customers needs.”
:Apogee Suite 6.0 comes as a software family. :Apogee PrePress provides a fully automated and JDF enabled prepress production hub. It manages, controls and renders the PDFs. :Apogee Color seamlessly integrates quality and colour management throughout the whole production cycle. :Apogee Portal strengthens the communication and collaboration between the printers and their customers, while :Apogee Media focusses more on Editorial and Content Management aspects in the publishing workflow.
