Launch ID Photo Service for the Disabled
Tuesday 02. February 2010 - "Harmony Print" Service Allows Customers to Pick Up ID Photos at Seven-Eleven or Receive Them at Home
ISFnet Harmony, Ltd., ISFnet Inc.’s special subsidiary that encourages employment of the disabled, and Value Commitment, Inc., an information communications service firm, will launch Harmony Print, an ID photo service specifically for the disabled, which is provided through the Net Print Service by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. The service starts on January 19.
With “Harmony Print”, customers can obtain ID photos in sizes suitable for a disability certificate or a resume from a multi-use copy machine installed at Seven-Eleven convenience stores nationwide, by sending their portraits taken with their mobile phone to a designated e-mail address. Alternatively, the photos can be mailed for those who have difficulty leaving home.
This is the first ID photo service for the disabled offered by a designated special subsidiary that encourages employment of the disabled. It helps reduce the efforts and physical strains required for disabled persons and their families in need of ID photography.
Background
There are approximately 7.24 million disabled persons in Japan (according to the Survey on the Status of Physically Disabled Children/Persons 2006 by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare).
Disabled persons need to submit ID photos when they make or renew disability certificates. In addition, their needs for resume photos are growing, as the implementation of the Services and Supports for Persons with Disabilities Law has encouraged disabled persons in institutional care to explore employment opportunities.
Yet, having a photo taken at a photo studio or an automatic ID photo booth has been a strenuous exercise for the disabled and their families.
ISFnet Harmony acknowledged the needs for the service that help the disabled obtain ID photos, when its own employees experienced difficulties in taking photos at an automatic booth as their wheelchair did not fit in or even in going out to take a photo.
In a mission to minimize inconvenience for the disabled, the company has developed Harmony Print utilizing the Mobile ID Photo service (by Value Commitment) and Net Print Service (by Fuji Xerox), which provide the printout of a portrait taken with and emailed straight from a mobile phone from a multi-use copy machine at Seven-Eleven.
