Harland Simon is to upgrade Prima management System for Poligrafici in Bologna and Florence

Friday 29. January 2010 - Centro Stampa Poligrafici has placed orders with Harland Simon the press control and management system specialists.

CSP have newspaper production facilities in Bologna and in Florence, where their existing Prima computer system hardware and application software are old and out of date. The comprehensive upgrades that Harland Simon will install in April, will replace the obsolete computer hardware with modern industry standard pcs as well as installing the latest version of the Prima MS applications. At the same time Prima RIPSet will be added to the systems so that CSP can also benefit from presetting the presses at both sites.
Some of the key benefits from the upgrade of the Prima computer system which will run on Windows OS 7, includes:
• Improved communications between the Prima system and the Press Control Systems
• Presetting of the ink and damp for the presses using data taken directly from the RIP network.
• Improved event logging of all recordable data back from the presses
• Page Tracking showing time and date stamped receipt of page separations for the RIP

Dr. Silvio Broggi, Technical Director for both of the printing plants said “We have a good relationship with Harland Simon as the control and management systems providers for our Goss HT/Uniliner Presses. We know that our business will benefit from being able to preset the presses and now are comfortable that we have taken steps towards securing our production for the future.”
David Wallen, Director, Customer Services for Harland Simon said “Our standard Prima System enables us to provide a very cost-effective solution that many sites can benefit from. We’re delighted to be able to provide Centro Stampa Poligrafici with these upgrades.”
