Sinclairs cuts its chemistry bill as part of its environmental strategy
Thursday 21. January 2010 - Stationery experts Sinclairs of Otley is taking another environmental step with the use of a basic.f dampening filtration system from technotrans.
The filtration unit removes unwanted debris from the dampening solution during production. It is fitted onto Sinclairs Komori 628, a B2 six-colour press, and is an ideal complement to existing technotrans temperature control ancillaries on the machine.
“We hold ISO 14001 environmental accreditation but the environment, and Corporate Social Responsibility generally, isnt a recent whim; its something we have worked on over many years,” says David Hainsworth, works manager. “The basic.f cuts the amount of chemistry we need to purchase and the waste liquid we have to dispose of but it also reduces downtime because we have to change the dampening solution less often.”
As an existing technotrans user, the company knew that the product would be robust and the support services reliable.
The company supplies stationery to customers nationally and internationally and to many companies which are concerned to have environmentally sound supply chains. Sinclairs has taken practical steps to ensure it is constantly improving. These include having upgraded compressed air generation, a reduction in paper waste through awareness and care, a review of energy solutions as well as the reduction in solvent and chemistry use.
Peter Benton, managing director of technotrans in the UK, says: “Today environmental credentials and efficiency go hand in hand. Saving the planet and saving time and money run in parallel in many pressroom situations. We offer a wide range of filtration products to suit all press applications and budgets and the take up continues to grow despite the recession.”
