TG Print upgrades its CtP and switches to Saphira plates

Wednesday 20. January 2010 - Woolwich printer TG Print has taken delivery of a new Suprasetter S74 CtP system and switched to Heidelberg’s own brand Saphira Chem-free plates.

The Suprasetter replaces an existing Topsetter which after outputting 100,000 plates. It has served well but was ready to be upgraded. The company looked at a number of options but came down in favour of the Suprasetter believing it was the best system and the most compatible with its CIP 4 workflow, which includes Prepress Interface, and its Speedmaster SM 74.

“The Suprasetter is more robust that the Topsetter and equipped with the latest laser technology but it is the front end that really impresses,” reports Dave Duhig, managing director. “The Signastation imposition software is excellent and the Meta Dimension PDF workflow is so good that we even iron out any wrinkles on files to be run on the Indigo digital press. It has eliminated any problems we have, including layers and transparency when handling the latest design software; everything is now very easy to run.”

Saphira Chem-Free plates have been selected. These are developed on the CtP system itself rather than on press, eliminating any start up waste.

TG Print is a general commercial printer which produces flyers, posters and general commercial print for its local London and south east region but also to all parts of England, Scotland and Wales. The company runs its prepress service from 7am to 7pm daily with the pressroom running eight or nine shifts a week.
