John Fry of B&D Print Services wins champagne draw

Thursday 14. January 2010 - John Fry, business development director of B&D Print Services in Leyland, has won the prize draw for a case of champagne in the technotrans pressroom questionnaire draw.

“I’m delighted,” says Mr Fry. “It’s the first prize I’ve won in 33 years. In 1977 when I was 15 years old and an apprentice I won an NGA Christmas raffle. It was a holiday to Loret de Mar where they hadn’t yet built the beaches and the only hotel was run by Saga but it was abroad! Actually I also won on Aldaniti
which Bob Champion rode to Grand National victory in 1981.”

Peter Benton, managing director of technotrans, says: “We are very grateful for the strong response to our request for information from a range of sheetfed and web printers throughout the UK. We are compiling information which we hope will enable us to provide an even better service in 2010. Other research work will follow and we hope that visitors to Ipex will visit us (stand 06 C5 61) for advice on pressroom improvements.”

B&D is a B2 and B3 format company which already uses temperature control, cartridge based inking, filtration of dampening and chemistry and has an ancillaries maintenance contract.

John Fry says: “Without doubt ancillaries are important in achieving optimum printing results and maximum efficiency. We have found technotrans to be a helpful and knowledgeable partner and it is because of our production efficiency from start to finish that we are able to offer the excellence and speedy service that marks us out from the crowd.”

The company offers a design to delivery litho and digital service and produces a broad range of print including periodicals, magazines and brochures for companies throughout the UK and abroad, most recently Canada. The company has a Total Quality Management strategy and is FSC accredited.
