The leading event of the newspaper and media industry docks in Hamburg with a cargo of innovations on board

Wednesday 13. January 2010 - IFRA Expo 2010 from 4 to 6 October in Hamburg

Preparations for IFRA Expo 2010 are entering the next phase with new momentum. The 40th edition of the leading event for the newspaper and media industry, that will be held this year in Hamburg, will present an abundance of innovations (www.ifraexpo.com).

Although the duration of this year’s event will be shortened by one day, the opening hours have been extended: Monday, 4 October to Wednesday, 6 October 2010, from 9.30 to 18.00 h.

Entrance fees for visitors will be reduced significantly: a day ticket for visitors can be purchased from EUR 15 incl. VAT (by registering online from May 2010 on).

The new “Media Port” in hall A1 will show publishing trends in online, mobile and print. The high-profile programme on stage is open to all visitors and will present best practice examples from all over the world. It is of interest not only for newspaper production managers, but also and especially for magazine and corporate publishers.

In addition to the official opening on Monday morning at 9.30 h and the Get-Together on Monday evening starting at 18.00 h, WAN-IFRA plans to hold a closing event on Wednesday evening. At this event, the award winners of the competition for membership in the International Newspaper Color Quality Club 2010-2012 will receive their prizes (starting at 18.00 h, free entrance for all IFRA Expo visitors and exhibitors, website: www.colorqualityclub.org).

On Thursday, 7 October 2010, the post-conference “WAN-IFRA Advertising Summit” will take place in Hamburg. This event is organised in cooperation with INMA (International Newspaper Marketing Association).

The seaport Hamburg is an international metropolis and a media city. The new Messe Hamburg (www.hamburg-messe.com) offers optimal conditions for IFRA Expo that will be held in three halls: hall A1 for digital technologies, systems and software, halls A3 and A4 for prepress, printing and finishing. All information about the event can be found on the website www.ifraexpo.com.

This year’s IFRA Expo in Hamburg will be the 40th time that this annual event has taken place. The first exhibition for the news publishing industry was held in 1970 with 54 exhibitors from ten countries on 1124 m² stand space in Mainz and was attended by about 600 participants from 21 countries. Since that time, it grew steadily and has become the world’s leading event for the newspaper publishing and media industry. This is the second time, after 1985, that IFRA Expo “docks” in Hamburg.
