Donald Murray Paper supports young talented artists in Glasgow

Wednesday 06. January 2010 - A record 1,700 school age children entered the Glasgow Schools Calendar competition in the hope of having their work included in the 2010 calendar that is distributed to schools, libraries and council offices throughout the City.

In addition this year three winners from the separate St Enoch Centre art competition won places in the calendar.

Donald Murray Paper, a division of national paper merchant PaperCo, was a co-sponsor of the competition along with Ricoh Document Management again this year. Donald Murray Paper supplied 50,000 sheets of Lumigloss 200gsm paper for the calendar which is designed in-house at Glasgow City Council and printed by Ricoh Document Management.

The calendar features 13 works of art from pupils at 13 different schools (one for the cover and then 12 for the months of the year). The winners, from primary and secondary schools, were: Heeyoun Hur, Kevin McKenna, Chloe MacDonald, Lily Meehan, Meghan Campbell, Dionne Stroud, Scott Austin, Lynsey Brown, Sophie Johnston, Helen Murray, Kirsty Donnelly, Magdileena Rodrick and Zain Azhar. Each received £100 and had their work displayed at the St Enoch Centre.

“PaperCo has a very strong corporate social responsibility programme and as part of that we at Donald Murray Paper take very seriously our links with education. Each year we are more and more impressed by the depth and breadth of talent shown. It will cheer the hearts of many throughout this year,” says Karen McNee, corporate sales.
