CGS Publishing Technologies International impresses Audience at the DigitaldruckForum Congress in Mainz, Germany

Thursday 17. December 2009 - In a spectacular interactive presentation that included live videoconferencing with customers in Bremen and Hamburg, CGS demonstrated fast and easy proofing and approval processes with ORIS state-of-the-art software.

CGS Publishing Technologies International, global leader of color management solutions, digital proofing systems and specially formulated media was a presenter at the well-known DigitaldruckForum, demonstrating ORIS Press Matcher // Web and ORIS Soft Proof live at the one-day event.

The theme of the event, which attracted about a hundred experts from all areas of print-media communications, was again ‘Ideas for Profit’, so CGS focused its presentation on the benefits to the end-user as opposed to the technology itself. In cooperation with specialty coffee producer J.J. Darboven from Hamburg and the agency Schofeld Kommunikation & Design in Bremen, a coffee can label was specifically designed for the occasion and was used to demonstrate how clearly structured print communication and approval processes can be implemented in a demanding market, thanks to ORIS web-based solutions. After a short introductory video on CGS technology in use at Schofeld, John Schofeld, owner of the agency, was connected to the conference via video. In real-time, the audience could observe their production department, and watch live how a portrait photo, taken minutes ago at the DDF Congress in Mainz, was processed and placed into the package label. The finished label design was then uploaded into ORIS Press Matcher // Web, to generate a color-accurate softproof. This was then immediately available on a calibrated monitor and was approved in the ORIS workflow by an employee of J.J. Darboven, in Hamburg, joining the conference by phone.

The final hardcopy proof output, printed on a Xerox DocuColor 252 under Fogra Validation Print standards and proof certification process, was watched by cameras at Schofeld and also broadcasted to the audience. In parallel, the subsequent steps of the workflow were shown via Internet in the user interface of the ORIS application, and were presented by Andreas Weber, spokesman of the DDF, and Heiner Mueller, Director of Marketing Communications at CGS. In the interview, John Schofeld related his positive experiences with ORIS color management and proof printing on the Xerox system. At end of the presentation, the audience was yet again surprised. The final result of the successful presentation was ready and waiting: cans with freshly roasted Darboven coffee and with the ORIS label, digitally printed on a Roland UV printer.

The visitors of the event were universally impressed as to how the theme of the Congress, ‘Ideas for Profit’ was visually presented in a real life scenario using state-of-the-art web-based color management technology.
“The ‘Ideas for Profit’ Congress of the DigitaldruckForum is known for several years for delivering ideas for practical use without getting lost in the technical details. More often than not, the event surprises the audience with a special stimulus. With the latest web versions, CGS presented just this philosophy, offering the user intelligent central color management solutions for multiple output processes, analog or digital, allowing him to extend the workflow into the end-customer business”, commented Heiner Mueller from CGS.
