Muller Martini Continues to Champion Innovation with an Inline Inkjet Printing and Book Production System for RR Donnelley
Friday 11. December 2009 - Muller Martini and RR Donnelley agree on a project to create an industrial inline inkjet printing and book production system.
Digital book production
As the industry’s demands for fast, reliable, and economical digital printing solutions continues to accelerate, RR Donnelley and Muller Martini announce a project for developing several high speed, fully integrated digital inkjet printing and inline book production systems. The RR Donnelley developed printing press is capable of running at printing speeds of up to 800 feet per minute, with the Muller Martini fully automated book production system keeping up with production.
The new digital book production system from Muller Martini comprises the SigmaLine with integrated Pantera perfect binder working in tandem with RR Donnelley’s proprietary ProteusJet 1200 dpi digital press to produce short-run hardcover and softcover books.
Mullers SigmaLine networks digital printing and finishing in one unique overall system, enabling fully automated production in one operation, from the roll to the completed book. This linking of all component processes enables short runs to be produced quickly and efficiently.
“We are very pleased to continue our long relationship with RR Donnelley,” said Bruno Muller, Chief Executive Officer of Muller Martini. “The wide performance range of our finishing systems and ongoing innovation allow Muller Martini to develop solutions that meet RR Donnelley’s growing demands for digital finishing technology.”
RR Donnelley Group President Dan Knotts stated: “We are pleased that our continuing, collaborative relationship with Muller Martini has yielded this important breakthrough for our customers. We believe that this integrated print and production system combines best-in-class technologies developed by both RR Donnelley and Muller Martini to create an innovative new solution and extend RR Donnelley’s position as a technology leader. This combination increases speeds and reduces production protocols to deliver superb value and production flexibility to publishers.”
