INX’s ColorTrac SS2 ink earns ISO 2846-1 Certification from Printing Industries of America

Thursday 03. December 2009 - INX International Ink Co. announced today that its HWO ColorTrac SS2 brand of process inks has achieved ISO 2846-1 conformance from Printing Industries of America (PIA). The prestigious ISO 2846-1 certification is the international standard used to determine color and transparency conformance of 4-color lithographic printing inks. This marks the second INX product line to attain ISO 2846-1 status after previous certification was issued for its EcoPure HPJ sheetfed inks last June.

“To achieve ISO 2846-1 conformance certification on the first try represents the outstanding work performed by our Research & Development labs to achieve this home run certification,” said Jim Galloway, INX R & D Heatset Lab Manager. Galloway and Len Stresinshe, R & D Special Projects Manager, coordinated all efforts involved with the PIA testing procedure. “This was the goal we had in mind and wanted to pursue. It gives INX International the opportunity to maintain its leadership in the commercial print world by offering a commercial heatset ink system that allows heatset printers to generate superior lithographic print reproductions.”

The ColorTrac brand of heatset inks have offered outstanding value since being introduced to the commercial market almost 10 years ago. ColorTrac SS2 is a series of process black, blue, red and yellow inks designed for maximum performance in a random dot screening environment. Known for its excellent print performance on press, this ink delivers brilliant print quality and lithographic print reproduction to magazines, catalogs, newspapers, inserts, brochures and other commercial work.

Fast drying, ColorTrac SS2 process inks achieve deep, rich color tone with excellent color balance and can also be used as a high quality heatset cover ink. It has good gloss and rub resistance, minimizes press start-up waste with shorter makereadies, and greatly reduces the number of necessary blanket washes. ColorTrac SS2 is UV coatable and runs well on all dampening systems with low misting at high speeds. It also carries the Soy Seal and is suitable for GRACoL G7 certification. The G7 status means having the ability to match press to proofs on a more consistent basis, resulting in less downtime, fewer plate changes, reduced paper waste and consistent results across multiple presses and locations.

Galloway said the Printing Industries of America ISO 2846-1 conformance certification for the ColorTrac SS2 process inks offers printers more advantageous benefits.

“This conformance certification gives heatset printers the opportunity to maintain their print quality leadership in this highly competitive commercial print market. It also allows them to use the PIA ISO 2846-1 logo within their printed products and encourages their own conformance certification.”
