Participants from all over the world – INCQC open for registration up to 31 December

Tuesday 24. November 2009 - International Newspaper Color Quality Club 2010-2012

The deadline for registering to participate in the competition for membership in the Inter¬national Newspaper Color Quality Club 2010-2012 is end of December 2009. There is still sufficient time to register on the website www.colorqualityclub.org.

To date some 143 titles from 38 countries have signed up for the competition that begins in January 2010 and runs until April. This shows that, also in difficult economic times, a reliable high standard of colour printing quality continues to be of major importance for publishing houses and their customers.

More than 140 applicants from nearly 40 countries
The Color Quality Club is more international than ever before. The participating titles come from a total of 38 countries and from all continents. Many registrations have been received from European countries. In addition, the level of participation from Central and South America, as well as Asia, has increased significantly compared to past competitions. There is now a global quality consciousness in the news publishing industry.

The INCQC applications come from the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Panama, Saudi-Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, USA, and Venezuela.

All newspaper production processes taken into account
For the first time, all newspaper production processes are being taken into account in the Color Quality Club: besides Coldset, also Heatset and even processes that use tinted paper.

“For the first time, the colour quality will be analysed over a period of several months in the categories of Coldset, Heatset and Special Processes, e.g. use of tinted paper. Each participating title that can prove its ability to offer a consistently high minimum standard of quality has the opportunity to join the club of elite printers. Never before have the investment of resources for the participants been so low and at the same time the usefulness of the evaluation so great. The programme of the International Newspaper Color Quality Club convinces worldwide.”, says Roland Thees, INCQC-Project Manager and Research Manager Newspaper Production at WAN-IFRA.

Participating newspapers process and print a supplied special digital original in every competition month from January to April 2010, treating it in the same way as a supplied colour ad. The printed result is sent to WAN-IFRA in Darmstadt where it is analysed and the results subsequently announced to the participant concerned. In addition, two production copies of the participating title from the competition period are subjected to a general quality review. Finally, the points from all parts of the competition are added up and every participant who obtains the required minimum number of points is awarded membership of the International Newspaper Color Quality Club for two years.

Deadline for registration: 31 December 2009
There is still time to register, but only until the end of December 2009. After that, the practical process begins.
