Trinity Mirror adopts filtration to be green and cost-effective
Tuesday 17. November 2009 - After extensive tests Trinity Mirror has signed off an order for two technotrans delta.f dampening filtration systems on two five tower KBA Commander web presses in Glasgow.
“Filtration is vital to us from an environmental perspective says David Beagan, chief engineer at the plant. “The solids dont go down the drain and the liquid from the dampening solution is recycled to reduce our fount bill. Its green and cost saving. It requires very little maintenance because the filters clean themselves so all we do is occasionally decant the sludge tanks.”
The delta.f was connected to the delta.sd dampening system already in place, another of a range of technotrans products at the site which also includes contex.mb blanket wash up and delta.t and gamma.t cooling equipment.
“We have a first class relationship with technotrans and any equipment from them has always been very good. They provide excellent assistance and speedy support,” says Mr Beagan.
WRH Marketing is the sales agency for technotrans products in the UK newspaper market and its sales director Alison Morris says: “With the delta.f 99% of the filtered dampening solution can be re-used into the cycle which is cost- and time-efficient. That also means customers should get a rapid return on investment, typically in less than a year.”
Having the right peripherals is vital for the stability, productivity and quality of production. For this plant running to very sensitive deadlines it is critical equipment is reliable. Trinity Mirror prints at the site: The Daily Record; The Mirror; The Independent; the Glaswegian; Sunday Mail; Sunday Mirror; and a number of Clyde and Forth regional papers.
