MGI USA, the multi-substrate (paper, plastic and envelopes) digital press and finishing solution manufacturer, announced that APS Imaging Solutions, Inc, has been appointed as a US dealer, specializing in the photo imaging market.

APS Imaging Solutions, Inc, based in Fullerton, California, is a full line distributor of software and imaging equipment specializing in complete solutions for the photo finishing industry. Over the past 10 years APS has represented some of the most innovative companies in photo finishing such as Unibind Italy, Epson USA, Canon USA, Fuji Film USA, Konica, Agfa, Noritsu, MGI USA and many more. They pride themselves as leaders in providing true value-added solutions to customers nationwide.

“As our market changes due to new printing technologies, so do the wants and needs of our consumers,” said Al Scolari, President and CEO of APS Imaging Solutions, Inc.

“Over the last few years there has been a significant change in product offerings, mostly due to press printing technologies. I see MGI as one of the most versatile and innovative companies leading the way in this technology, and APS Imaging Solutions, Inc. is proud to represent MGI’s full range of digital printing and finishing solutions.”

APS will be one of MGI USA’s special photo channel US dealers focusing primarily on the photo imaging market, an industry in which MGI is bringing an increasing presence. At PMA 2009, MGI introduced the Meteor DP20, the industry’s first all-inclusive digital photo solution that can duplex print, laminate, crease & cut in just one pass. This versatile “business in a box” gives photo professionals the option to offer a wide range of personalized applications such as photo books, personalized calendars, postcards, photo prints, book covers, menus and many more. The Meteor DP20 is the recipient of two major awards for technological innovation in both the photo and graphics industries – the 2009 DIMA Innovative Digital Product Award and Must See ‘em designation at PRINT 09.

The flagship model in MGI’s Meteor line, the award-winning Meteor DP60 Pro is a 4-color multi-substrate digital press ideal for use in central labs, in addition to commercial, in-plant, plastic and book printers. The Meteor DP60 Pro is the most versatile digital press in the industry, accommodating the widest range of paper and plastic/synthetic substrates, including matte, CS1/CS1, linen, art/textured papers, envelopes, PVC, PET, polycarbonate, canvas, magnets, vinyl/static cling and many more, all printed in brilliant 2400 dpi resolution. It also has the widest cut sheet size range among digital presses, ranging from 4″ x 6″ up to 13 x 47″, ideal for panoramic photos, book covers, calendars, and many other personalized options. The Meteor DP60 Pro was honored as a Must See ‘em at GRAPH EXPO 2008, then as an Encore Must See ‘em at PRINT 09, recognizing technologies that would impact all printers.

Together with their US dealer network, MGI USA presents the most comprehensive line of digital printing and finishing solutions in the industry. In addition to the Meteor series of digital presses, MGI’s finishing options include the JETvarnish (digital inkjet spot UV coater), UVarnish (offline auto-feed UV/IR flood coater), PressCard Pro (hot platen lamination unit), PunchCard Pro (credit card format die cutter) and EnvelopExpress (high capacity envelope feeder), as well as My PhotoBook Shop, a total digital solution for photo production, from printing through binding.

MGI’s digital technologies are recognized as the most versatile and innovative on the global graphics market and provide true value-added solutions to thousands of satisfied customers worldwide. Within the last year, three separate products (Meteor DP60 Pro, JETvarnish and Meteor DP20) have won a combined seven awards for technological innovation in three separate markets (graphics/commercial printing, packaging, photo imaging).
