MILENIUM Cross Media integrates the e-book as another output channel

Friday 30. October 2009 - The El Mundo newspaper already offers news to its subscribers through this device

The newspaper sector is presently going through a technological revolution, a whirlwind of continuous change. Protecmedia is fully aware of this situation, as it continues to develop new tools and to integrate into its solutions the new communicative supports that appear. The e-book provides a clear example of this. Newspapers are received directly by the e-book, offering a new reading experience.

This service is already offered by El Mundo, supported by Protecmedia’s solutions. The Unidad Editorial newspaper offers its subscribers the daily version in e-book format through Amazon’s Kindle, a completely new way of reading the news each morning. Through a monthly subscription, or simply by paying on a daily basis, the newspaper can be read via this user-friendly device.

Protecmedia has added this new support to the others that already exist within the convergent newsroom environment, making it possible to generate contents for this support in a quick and simple manner. Through the same work interface used to edit content for print and online editions, the newspaper may decide whether or not it wishes to generate given content in e-book format, without changing normal functioning at all thanks to the maximum level of integration.

Without doubt, the e-book represents another stage in the process of continuous change currently affecting the media sector, particularly newspapers. The new supports are already here and Protecmedia is in a position to offer the best technology to integrate them fully.
