“Press Retrofit”” with new WIFAG platform

Monday 26. October 2009 - The Swiss EAE partner, WIFAG Maschinenfabrik AG, now offers, like other companies, a technical control for your delivered shaftless presses. For this purpose, the "Platform+" concept, which has been applied to new machines for several years now, is used.

It is suitable for upgrading the OF 370/OF type machines delivered since 1996 so that they almost meet the modern automation standards of a OF 370 S / OF 470 S type delivered today. Similar to new machines, the EAE control and automation level is integrated via a gateway.

At the “Suomen Lehtiyhtymä OY” print shop in Finland this concept is now being put into practice for the first time. Here, an existing OF 370 GTD dating from 1997 has been extended by a tower, the existing modules, reelstand, printing tower and folder have been equipped with WIFAG’s “Platform+”. An existing OF 9.2, manufactured in 1985, has been integrated into the new control without “Press Retrofit”, so one of the machine’s webs can produce into the new part of the equipment.

Furthermore, the Finnish printing house is now using EAE’s “Print”solution, the highly integrated system for production planning and machine presetting.Particularly presetting – which is to say presetting ink zones, register, dampening etc. – results in a significant reduction of start-up waste.
In the further scope of delivery, this “Press Retrofit” also contains an EAE Service PC to facilitate remote access to EAE’s management solution. In case support is required, this means that any faults can be quickly rectified with as little disturbance as possible and at a much lower cost.

After the successful installation in autumn this year, WIFAG, together with EAE, plans to actively offer this concept to its customers.
