Following initial successes with a ProLiner line installed in June at Schenkelberg’s headquarters in Meckenheim (Germany), subsidiary Union Druckerei Weimar has also now decided to invest in a new Muller Martini mailroom system.

The new ProLiner, featuring 12 insert stations as well as two NewsStack stack formers, top sheet feeders, and cross strappings, will replace an existing inserting system in place at Union Druckerei in Weimar in the spring of next year. The company founded in 1947 has been part of Schenkelberg since 2004, and has a weekly print run of some 3.5 million newspapers and inserts, and benefits in particular from the high usage in the insert industry. “It’s not only the overall volumes that are on the up, but also the denomination of the inserts. We’ve primarily been looking for a flexible, modular solution to accommodate the many zones we need to process – and we’ve found this in the ProLiner,” explains Ernst-Ulrich Dill, Managing Director of Union Druckerei Weimar. The new ProLiner has been equipped to accommodate two extra feeders if there are further increases in capacity.

Another benefit is the flexible software that supports the wide range of products offered by Union Druckerei and the varied customer requirements it faces. What’s more, the new Muller Martini mailroom system in Weimar will also feature as with the existing line in Meckenheim does the Mailroom Production Control (MPC) system, which delivers full monitoring and control of the mailroom workflow.
