Méthode integrates Outlook task management
Wednesday 14. October 2009 - The Méthode editorial platform extends its workflow functions to remote users through integration with Microsoft Office Outlook.
The Méthode News Planning environment allows editorial staff to assign tasks to other users, with automatic notification and task-tracking functions built in. This facility has now been integrated with Microsofts Office Outlook application, allowing workflow interactions to extend outside the Méthode workspace.
“This is a useful function for working with staff who are physically remote from the editorial environment,” said Stefano Delli Ponti, EidosMedias chief system architect. “I can assign a task to a remote user and the task will appear in their Outlook schedule wherever they are on the Internet.”
The Outlook task is continually synchronised with the task in the Méthode workflow and parameters such as priority and comments are constantly updated. At the same time Outlook parameters like percentage completion are passed back to Méthode, allowing the task to be monitored from within the editorial environment.
“The synchronisation between the editorial and Outlook environments is a valuable extension to Méthodes news management functions,” said Stefano, “It means that staff anywhere with a Web connection can be involved in the editorial workflow.”
The Outlook integration is one of the new features of the Méthode editorial platform that visitors will be able to experience first-hand at the IfraExpo 2009 trade show in Vienna (October 12-15 – stand A710).
