Atlantic Zeiser Brings Full-Color Innovation to Narrow Web Label Printing at LabelExpo 2009
Friday 02. October 2009 - GAMMA 70 Series combines two alternative printing modules in a single footprint for improved productivity, operationing margin, flexibility
Atlantic Zeiser, a leading innovator and technology supplier for digital narrow format printing processes, today announced that its innovative GAMMA 70 Series is now available for full-color UV narrow web label printing applications. The GAMMA 70 fills out Atlantic Zeisers product portfolio and is added to the companys OMEGA series and other leading-edge printing solutions. In bringing this product to market, Atlantic Zeiser has partnered with leading solution provider Xaar. The combination of Xaar print head technology, Atlantic Zeiser integration and application expertise results in a powerful end-to-end solution that includes a UV printer, UV inks, and UV drying capability.
Labelexpo Europe is the world’s largest event for the label, product decoration, web printing and converting industry, scheduled for September 23rd through 26th in Brussels. Atlantic Zeiser is located in Hall 11, Stand Q75.
“We are excited to be bringing the GAMMA 70 Series to the narrow web label market at LabelExpo 2009,” said Michel Gilet, Director of Business Development and Strategic Marketing at Atlantic Zeiser. “This complete, vertically integrated solution, available from a single supplier and based on the proven capability of GAMMA printing systems already in use in the ID card market, allows label converters and suppliers to the label market to take advantage of inline full-color variable data to meet the increasingly complex requirements of todays label market.”
Broad Market Relevance
The GAMMA 70 Series combines Xaar print heads with Atlantic Zeiser controller and data preparation software. It is ideally suited for traditional markets such as packaging and labeling, commercial print, in-plant printing of consumer goods, security print and card manufacturing. In addition, the GAMMA 70 is designed for label printing and industrial product identification on substrates beyond the usual paper and cardboard materials.
Two Models Available
The GAMMA 70 is available in two models:
GAMMA 70S is the standard model for wet-on-wet printing in the pattern application process;
GAMMA 70P is the premium model well suited for both pinning and wet-on-wet for sharp texts, barcodes, pictures and fine details and logotypes.
Both systems are compact in size, which is especially important to space-constrained facilities. The GAMMA 70 Series can be installed on a complete web system as a standalone system; leveraged as part of an integration package for OEM integration on a wide range of label machinery, or integrated by end users into existing analog web label systems.
“LabelExpo 2009 is the worlds leading event within the label processing industry,” said Thomas Stenkamp, Product Manager Digital Printing & Coding Solutions, of Atlantic Zeiser. “It is the ideal venue to introduce for the first time a premium full-color high-end inkjet printing solution incorporated in the printingrather than the finishingprocess. In addition, GAMMA 70 is unique in combining both wet-on-wet and pinning technologies within a single footprint.”
Product Details
The full-color GAMMA 70 is a high-speed, single-pass UV solution that incorporates Xaar 1001 greyscale print heads to produce stunning quality at a high-resolution of 360 dpi that visually appears to be as much as 1060 dpi. The system prints on a wide variety of porous and non-porous materials such as plastic cards and films, metallic foils, cardboard and paper. With a print width of 70.5mm (2.775 in), the GAMMA 70 can be integrated in-line with sheetfed or web systems.
The variable drop capability of the industrial-strength Xaar 1001 printhead consistently produces smooth tone graphics, fine detail, sharp text and barcodes to generate great results quickly, cost-effectively and reliably. The new system is also highly flexible as an industrial level full-color marking system. A choice of UV curing systems is also available to suit specific applications. These include Atlantic Zeiser’s new eco-friendly SMARTCURE LED UV curing system for temperature sensitive products. LED UV curing is especially suited to thin materials that can be damaged by label-based UV curing.
The GAMMA 70 Series is capable of operating in a single-pass printing process at an impressive top speed of 24m/minute.
