Kodak Joins GOLF CHANNEL to Promote Broadcast of Fall PGA TOUR Events
Tuesday 29. September 2009 - "Golfs Photo Finish presented by Kodak" Aims to Get Fans More Involved in PGA TOUR & Kodak Challenge Action This Fall
As part of the inaugural Kodak Challenge competition, Kodak announced today it will join GOLF CHANNEL in a series of high profile activities to promote the broadcast of the PGA TOUR Fall Series and the culmination of the Kodak Challenge.
The Kodak-GOLF CHANNEL Fall partnership, dubbed “Golfs Photo Finish presented by Kodak,” involves a series of on-air and online promotions designed to build greater viewer and spectator interest in the final five events of the PGA TOUR season, including the conclusion of the inaugural $1 million Kodak Challenge competition.
Contests Geared to Engage Fans
To more actively involve fans in Kodak Challenge and PGA TOUR Fall action, Kodak and GOLF CHANNEL have created a series of weekly fan contests tied to GOLF CHANNEL Fall Series programming. Beginning with coverage of the Turning Stone Resort Championship on October 1, the “Photo Challenge” will present a series of on-screen photo-trivia questions during the GOLF CHANNELs PGA TOUR coverage and “Big Break” broadcasts. To participate, fans can visit a special website (www.GolfChannel.com/PhotoChallenge) to answer the photo-trivia questions and become eligible for prizes. Many of the questions will be Kodak Challenge-themed and Kodak products will be among the prizes available for winning participants.
In addition to the photo-trivia contest, a special “Text to Win” promotion will provide fans watching PGA TOUR action on GOLF CHANNEL the opportunity to instantly win a KODAK Zi8 Pocket Video Camera. At various intervals during each day of Fall tournament coverage, on-screen messages will prompt viewers to text message their entry for a chance to win the KODAK Zi8.
“Big Break Disney Golf” to Showcase Kodak Challenge & Kodak Products
Kodak products and the Kodak Challenge competition will have integral roles in the Fall 2009 installment of GOLF CHANNELs “Big Break Disney Golf”, which premieres October 13 and airs on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET. The 12th edition of the Big Break series, “Big Break Disney Golf” features a field of 12 golfers competing in a series of golf skill-based activities for a shot to play in the 2010 Childrens Miracle Network Classic, a PGA TOUR event. The KODAK Zx1 Pocket Video Camera and elements of the Kodak Challenge competition are featured throughout the 10-week series, which includes a segment filmed at the final Kodak Challenge hole of the 2009 season, hole #17 at Disneys Magnolia Course, home to the Childrens Miracle Network Classic.
The KODAK Zx1 Pocket Video Camera plays a role in the “Big Break Disney Golf” storyline, as contestants use the digital video camera to capture personal video diaries of their experiences. Segments from the videos will appear during the program, and a special “Big Break Disney Golf” microsite will provide access to additional video content captured during the 10-week series.
“In a very short period of time, the Kodak Challenge has generated a great deal of interest among golf fans, PGA TOUR players, and our customers and business partners,” commented Jeffrey Hayzlett, Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company. “As the players enter the final swing of the PGA TOUR and close in on the Kodak Challenge $1 million prize, were pleased to join GOLF CHANNEL and the PGA TOUR in a variety of activities that are specifically geared towards engaging fans in the Fall golf action.”
The Kodak Challenge is a first-of-its-kind competition for PGA TOUR players and fans which celebrates beautiful holes and memorable moments on the PGA TOUR. In 2009, 30 PGA TOUR tournaments feature a designated Kodak Challenge hole. Players must play at least 18 of the 30 Kodak Challenge holes throughout the season to compete for the $1 million prize. The Kodak Challenge contest concludes at the Childrens Miracle Network Classic in November at DISNEYs Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
