PRATI showcases innovative solutions in label finishing at Labelexpo Europe 2009

Friday 25. September 2009 - PRATI is unveiling its new PH330 PHARMACHECK and VEGAplus systems on the biggest finishing booth at the show.

PRATI is showcasing its complete line of solutions for line-end label production and flexible packaging at Labelexpo 2009 in a booth of 380 sqm. As well as showcasing nine machines, PRATI is also providing news and display specific solutions for market segments such as the pharmaceutical, beverage and luxury sectors.

A preview of PH330 PHARMACHECK: a revolutionary modular control system with video control cutting features that also integrates a double label inspection capacity, is introduced on the booth C60, hall. 5. The PH330 PHARMACHECK is an efficient system that significantly reduces materials handling due to the fact that it doesn’t have a buffer like conventional technology. In addition, the PH330 PHARMACHECK ensures clean processing and accuracy in alignment and tension management. Thanks to its easy set up, reduced paper path, and capability to simultaneously position multiple errors on the correction table, the machine is also able to deliver high productivity. This, together with its quality features, makes it the ideal finishing system for the pharmaceutical market segment. Demonstrations of the new PH330 PHARMACHECK are exhibited in a reserved area of the booth, accessible to visitors with invitation only.

The new VEGAplus LF450 and LF530 are presented for the first time at the show. VEGAplus technology can operate alongside paper and film webs up to widths of 450mm (LF450) and 530 mm (LF530) in order to also meet the needs of the beverage market segment. The LF450 system is equipped with an unwinder, a die cutting station in register for pre-printed labels, an inspection unit, and a glueless turret rewinder. The LF530 can count on the unwinding inspection and single shaft rewinding modules. Both systems are also able to integrate printing heads and additional finishing devices for a wider variety of applications. They can be also implemented with automated solutions, such as the ability to upload jobs with JDF information, remote connection to a front-end, also boasts a completely new visual control system and the new Prati,co graphic interface.

Chiara Prati, sales manager at PRATI, says: “At Labelexpo Europe, the most important meeting place for the label printing industry, we are displaying the results of our intensive research that has seen us improve our products and look for advanced solutions in order to bring tangible business benefits to our clients. We welcome converters from all over the world and show them the true evolution that has taken place in finishing as well as the systems that are designed to make narrow format print professionals increase their business profitability”.

PRATI is also exhibiting the VEGAplus LF330 Booklet system for the off-line production of booklet labels. The system features an OS700 booklet feeder by Longford International, a hot-melt unit and a patented lamination unit. It also benefits from the new Prati.co graphic interface, highly intuitive and easy to use. This off-line booklet system is dedicated above all to the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and agri-chemical sector, but is also increasingly used in the food industry.

There is also new exhibits in the inspection machine category: The JUPITER TC450 is designed to accommodate web widths up to 450 mm. The JUPITER is the only machine on the market that displays three different tension types for rewinding, making it suitable to all kinds of label materials for all kinds of market segments such as food & beverage, cosmetic & personal care and household cleaning. The JUPITER TC450 system at the show is demonstrating its ability to handle a variety of substrates by monitoring self adhesive film live on the stand.

JUPITER TC280 UnivocalSign, designed for specialised narrow format applications, shows Labelexpo visitors the production of univocal labels for anti-counterfeiting applications, used mainly by luxury markets. This innovative application originates from cooperation among four companies: Dacom, developing the UnivocalSign project; Ritrama, manufacturing a new substrate suitable to the scope; PRATI and Etipack. The JUPITER TC280 can process labels, including a personalized unrepeatable identification, by means of a Nikka video-inspection system. The Jupiter technology reads, stores and makes the univocal data confidential before counting and rewinding the labels. Narrow format webs are connected to the labelling machine, which is supplied by Etipack, for applying univocal labels to the final products and activating the data matrix. Many market segments can take advantage of UnivocalSign applications and the technology is especially beneficial to the pharmaceutical, personal documentation, fashion, luxury, art, cards, food & beverage label production sectors.

Furthermore, on stand demonstrations of the SATURN line show visitors how an inspection machine can offer state-of-the-art technical features and still display a competitive price tag. The SATURN TE330 is fully servo-motorized and will be equipped with the Nikka 100% inspection system at the show. Visitors to the stand will see that, despite falling within the same price range, the SATURN TE330 offers higher quality and control compared to systems based on sensors and photocells, what is more, they will witness how it offers a user friendly approach and quick set-up. The SATURN TE280 with its die-cutting unit completes the series of demonstrations with the production of blank labels. This inspection machine offers the double advantage of delivering both inspection and production processes.

Another new product at Labelexpo is the URANUS TSIJ 180 inspection machine, which can be equipped with inkjet, braille and drop on demand printing heads, for widths up to 180 mm. The machine is suitable for the overprinting and inspection of variable data.
