Stora Enso DeLight Solution stands out through shape
Wednesday 16. September 2009 - Stora Enso is introducing its new DeLight Solution for consumer goods packaging. The secret of the fibre-based tray lies in its strengthened rim, which ensures that even the most challenging forms hold together and are effectively sealed. The first customer to bring this innovation into shops is the food-processing company Atria, whose new Atria Fresh microwave dishes are packed in the DeLight trays.
“Stora Enso DeLight is a ready answer to two rising consumer megatrends: self-expression and environmental awareness,” says Jalliina Järvinen, Head of Delight Solution at Stora Enso. “The new product is based on a technical innovation in package converting that enables us to introduce new shapes and user-friendly functions into fibre-based packaging. Excellent printability, tactile properties and environmental benefits are other benefits of DeLight.”
For those who care about the environment
Stora Enso DeLight is a fibre-based package that offers an attractive alternative to many competing materials in terms of sustainability. Compared with traditional packaging materials, such as aluminium and CPET, DeLight is light-weight, recyclable and user-friendly. DeLight is oven-proof and microwaveable, and can be frozen. The packaging is suitable for MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) and has excellent light barrier properties. The package design is customised according to the customer’s wishes.
“DeLight opens new opportunities for various consumer goods packaging such as food, cosmetics, home decoration and leisure products. Take-away food is undergoing major changes as consumers demand healthier options packed in environmentally friendly material. DeLight offers comfortable ready-to-serve solutions. Sliding covers and window applications improve functionality and the display of products,” says Jalliina Järvinen.
DeLight stands out in consumer tests
The Finland-based food-processing company Atria chose DeLight Solution to support its new Atria Fresh product concept. It is the biggest product launch by Atria this year and aimed at attracting new consumer groups for ready meals, mainly in the 25-45 age group. “Being fresh and modern is the core of Atria Fresh. The DeLight tray represents novel, environmentally friendly technology, which responds well to the values of our target group. DeLight stood out in our consumer tests as the most attractive package for fresh ready meals for our target group,” says Tanja Virtanen-Leppä, Packaging Development Manager at Atria Finland Ltd.
Stora Enso DeLight Solution is aimed at the European market. The services include single pilot launches and testing, consulting and packaging outsourcing as turnkey solutions in line with customer demands.
