Douglas Printing of Canada Seeing Green with Agfa Graphics Solutions

Wednesday 16. September 2009 - Alberta-based commercial printer reaps faster production and cost savings with new Agfa solutions

Agfa Graphics today announced that Douglas Printing, an Alberta-based commercial printer, has increased market share, expanded sustainability efforts and steadily gained ground in Western Canada. How is Douglas Printing able to do so in today’s economic climate? The company has kept a tight lid on expenses, cut costs and steadily improved effficiency. With the recent installation of a new :Avalon CtP system and :Azura TS chemistry-free plates, Douglas is able to save a minimum of twelve hours per month as a result of the upgrades. “The new system is hands-off, the :Azura TS plates are cleaner and easier to use and there are no worries about chemistry issues. It’s basically maintenance-free,” said Brad Clark, Prepress Manager at Douglas Printing.

At Douglas Printing, it is critical to go beyond current environmental regulations. The company makes a concerted effort to print in the most efficient manner as printing with the environment in mind is the standard at Douglas Printing. Currently the offset and digital printing operations of Douglas Printing are FSC Chain-of-Custody certified. “The new Agfa solutions have helped Douglas Printing further our sustainability efforts. We were able to move away from chemistry and reduce our use of natural resources, yet we maintained the quality our customers have come to expect,” said Donna Roth, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Environmental Affairs at Douglas Printing.

More and more printers assert that the transition to Agfa’s :Avalon CtP systems and :Azura TS  chemistry-free plates are sound business choices as improved efficiency, reliability and the basic simplicity of the technology are helping them meet their business and customer requirements.  Plus, with Agfa’s award-winning :Azura TS chemistry-free plates, commercial printers can eliminate chemistry, reduce costs and minimize their impact on the environment.
