Océ North America Supports the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance
Thursday 10. September 2009 - Employees are encouraged to perform a day of community service
Océ, an international leader in digital document management, announced today that it has initiated a program encouraging all employees in the United States to perform a day of community service in remembrance of those fellow Americans who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
In April, President Obama signed legislation that established September 11 as an “annually recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance.” The bill was passed as part of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, and was promoted as a means to “encourage and facilitate community service across the country.” In support of this bill, Océ North America encourages all of its employees in the United States to perform a day of community service, either on September 11 or some time during the fourth quarter of this year, as a paid day off.
Joseph D. Skrzypczak, Océ North America President and CEO, said, “September 11 is a day when we should all pause and remember those who tragically lost their lives. We should also join in the Administrations recognition of September 11 as a day when we can help our communities and fellow Americans who are less fortunate than us.
