Presstek Continues Distribution Network Expansion in Asia Pacific Region

Friday 21. August 2009 - Taiwan’s Young Wei Industrial Company to distribute full Presstek portfolio

Presstek, Inc., a leading manufacturer and marketer of digital offset printing solutions, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Young Wei Industrial Company LTD of Taipei, Taiwan ROC, a provider of solutions for the printing industry, to distribute the Presstek’s full line of graphic arts equipment and supplies. This will include Presstek’s 52DI and 34DI digital offset presses and chemistry-free computer-to-plate systems and plates.

“We are excited to add Presstek’s product line to our offering,” said Michael Chou, Owner of Young Wei Industrial Company. “Printers in Taiwan are anxious to have access to the latest printing technology. We know they will also be interested in the environmentally friendly Presstek DI presses and chemistry-free CTP platemaking systems. Acquiring these solutions will allow Taiwan printers to differentiate themselves in our marketplace and be more competitive in serving other world markets.”

Presstek 52DI and 34DI Digital Offset Presses
Presstek DI digital offset presses are environmentally friendly and offer printers the most profitable solution for meeting the demand for quick turnaround, high quality color printing in quantities from 500 to 20,000. Producing sellable color within 10 minutes, Presstek DI presses support up to 300 lpi (120 l/cm) and FM screening on a broad range of substrates from .0024″ to .02″ (0.06 mm to 0.5 mm) thick – increasing capabilities, throughput and profitability. Presstek’s range of highly automated digital offset presses eliminate platemaking chemistry, water usage and fountain solution, and dramatically reduce waste:
· Presstek 52DI digital offset press – This landscape digital offset press operates at up to 20,000 letter-size pages per hour with a maximum sheet size of 20.47″ x 14.76″.
· Presstek 34DI digital offset press – This digital offset press produces up to 14,000 letter-size pages per hour with a maximum sheet size of 13.39″ x 18.11″.
· Presstek 52DI-UV and 34DI-UV presses – Both the 52DI and 34DI presses are available as UV printing presses. DI-UV presses dramatically expand the range of addressable applications; whether it’s general commercial work, small format packaging, tags, labels or point of purchase materials.
· Presstek 52DI-AC – At Print 09 in September, Presstek will be introducing this new 52DI digital offset press with an integrated aqueous coater that supports both flood and spot aqueous coating. The combination of DI high quality short-run, cost-effective color printing with aqueous coating’s speed, durability and visual appeal opens up new application opportunities.

Presstek Chemistry-Free CTP Solutions
Presstek offers a range of chemistry-free CTP solutions to satisfy different productivity, price point and format-size requirements. Presstek’s true chemistry-free process requires a simple water wash after the imaging of grained, anodized aluminum plates before mounting on press. There is no need to consume extra space, time, energy and costs with expensive developers and noxious chemicals. These solutions eliminate workflow steps, while providing a more affordable total cost of platemaking ownership and environmentally sustainable operation. In addition, Presstek chemistry-free plates do not require special handling since they are 100% daylight safe. These plates have a strong resistance to UV inks and solvents; the only chemistry-free plates that can be used in both UV and conventional printing without any sacrifice in productivity and quality.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Young Wei in Taiwan,” said Tim Sawyer, Presstek’s Director of Sales for the Asia Pacific Region. “Taiwan has an aggressive ‘green industries’ initiative in place and is making the effort to create a low carbon island, putting Taiwan on par with other nations that are actively reducing carbon emissions. Presstek’s environmentally friendly printing solutions will enable Taiwan printers to actively contribute to these initiatives.”
