PROPAK ASIA 2009: A SHOW OF STRENGTH

ProPak Asia 2009 achieved a remarkable 9.62% growth in trade visitors reaching a total of 29,600 trade professionals from 63 countries. The total event covered 23,642 m². Held from the 17 – 20 June 2009 at BITEC in Bangkok, the 4 day conference and exhibition was opened by the Minister of Industry, H.E. Charnchai Chairungruang. “ProPak Asia 2009 was designed as a forum to promote Asian business opportunities that provide access to the world’s leading technologies” explained H.E. Charnchai Chairungruang.

With its 785 participating companies, the show generated sales of an estimated 3,500 million baht, with post-event trading rounding up the sum to more than 10,000 million baht. The event was described by Cornelis van Drent, Managing Director of Chronos Richardson as “a very successful event with a lot of potential customers, serious enquiries and where a lot of orders were placed”.

This year, the show extended its range to include a display of scientific instruments, in response to the growing interest in research and development. Ms Darunee Edwards, President of Food Science and Technology Association of Thailand (FoSTAT), commented that ProPak Asia 2009 was a world class show that received an overwhelming response from members of the association from throughout Asia. In total, ProPak Asia 2009 attracted 2,135 international visitors with the leading buyer attendance from Malaysia, followed by Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, India, Myanmar (Burma), China, Indonesia and the Philippines. Benjamin Evans of Heat & Control, Australia said ProPak Asia 2009 was “a very impressive event attracting enquiries from throughout the Asia”.

“This year’s ProPak Asia was such a success because it was able to attract more visitors than in the past years. They were the right target group, the decision makers who could close deals at the event,” said Phanpaphorn Urpatra, Director of Europac Co.,Ltd., “we sold ten of our machines on the very first day, and our daily total sales reached a record high”. ProPak Asia is an annual trade show that receives an enthusiastic response from manufacturers in industries ranging from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals and cosmetics and from production industries throughout the region.
