Special Binding Buys Autobond Mini 105 TPHS
Tuesday 21. July 2009 - Australian trade finishing house Special Binding in Brisbane is now offering a speedy, in-house laminating service following the installation of an Autobond Mini 105 TPHS. The new laminator, which was supplied by local distributor Graph-Pak, is a thermal perfector with a Heidelberg Speedmaster 105 feed head and a stacker.
“We already provide a wide range of finishing services, from perfect binding and saddle stitching to thread sewing, and the new Autobond Mini has allowed us to offer a fast turnaround of work laminated to a very high standard,” says bindery manager Noel Podlich. “Weve already used the Mini to laminate a range of covers and it has performed extremely reliably.
“We particularly like the Heidelberg feeder, which enables accurate feeding of a variety of stock at high speeds, normally 8,000 B1 sheets an hour. With run lengths from 100 to 50,000 copies, the ability to quickly make-ready on the laminator is also important. The Mini 105 TPHS has proved to be straightforward to use and we now have three trained operators.”
Special Binding was formed 35 years ago and employs 20 people. Most of its customers are sheet-fed printers in the Brisbane area.
Graph-Pak, which represents Autobond throughout Australia, has won a string of orders for Autobond laminators during 2009 as well as winning several orders at the recent PacPrint exhibition.
