Magnate Ventures Limited expands its business in Africa with HP digital printing

Tuesday 21. July 2009 - HP today announced that Magnate Ventures Limited has purchased the HP Scitex XP5300 Printer, enabling the company to move into new markets and offer customers new digital services.

Magnate Ventures ltd, based in Kenya, was established in 1996 to satisfy a need in a growing economy for outdoor signage. The company specialises in strategic advertising development, manufacture and installation of billboards, signage, Point of Purchase advertising (PoP), building wraps, etc. Magnate Ventures has built its success on an outstanding market knowledge, a diverse product range and a unique organisation that they define as a ‘one stop shop from digital printing to installation of outdoor and indoor signage and displays.’

“We have always believed in digital printing as being the key technology that would enable us to deliver a highly visible and eye-catching application as well as helping our customers to increase their brand awareness and obtain better PoP positioning,” said Robert Kinyanjui, marketing director, Magnate Ventures ltd. “With increasing expectations for quality and new business opportunities coming from Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda, we needed a solution to increase our production capacity and develop new services. Only the HP Scitex XP5300 Printer was able to meet these requirements.”

After having acquired Kenya Neon and General Signs in 1999, Magnate Ventures became one of the strongest sign and display companies in East Africa and controls approximately 50 per cent of the entire market share. The company now employs 200 people and carries out work for several high-profile customers in Kenya such as Zain, Safaricom, Telkom Orange as well as multinationals like Coca Cola.

“More and more countries are looking to improve their towns’ environments and are looking for innovative advertising media such as digital printing,” continued Kinyanjui. “With the HP Scitex XP5300 Printer, we now have all the cards in hand to offer our costumers a cost-effective printing service using low-cost media such as uncoated PVC and synthetic paper. Printing up to 4000m², the HP Scitex XP5300 Printer enables us to print super-wide jobs faster and achieve high-quality results within our customer’s budget.”

The HP Scitex XP5300 Printer is a productive solution that combines the performance of traditional super-wide format printers with the speed, quality, and media versatility of today’s UV ink printers. Ideal for high quality outdoor signage, PoS/PoP materials and displays, the HP Scitex XP5300 Printer is designed for high-speed, robust production environments. This innovative, five metre, dual-mode UV printer enables faster turnaround times and delivers better ink coverage to reduce the cost of printing.

Since the installation of the HP XP5300 Printer earlier this year, Magnate Ventures has developed and produced several innovative campaigns, the latest of which was for Zain, a Kenyan mobile phone operator, which needed to launch its new rebranding through the country.
