Autobond Plans Major Laminator Demonstration at Print 09

Friday 17. July 2009 - Visitors to the Print 09 booth of UK manufacturer Autobond will be able to see demonstrations of one of the most sophisticated sheet-fed laminators on the market - the Mini 76 TPHS (thermal, perfector, Heidelberg feeder and stacker).

This B1 portrait machine has the ability to laminate one or two sides in one pass and is fitted with a rising pile, back separation Speedmaster 74 feed head, enabling it to accurately handle a wide range of stock at high speeds.

“We’ve not shown this particular model before in the USA and believe the combination of features it offers makes it perfect for the type of laminating that is generally carried out,” says president John Gilmore. “The fast make-ready allows a job to be prepared on the Mini 76 TPHS using only a few sheets, so wastage in incredible low, while the high running speed – up to 200 feet per minute – makes the Mini 76 TPHS extremely productive on long runs as well.”

Even with the stacker included, the footprint for the Mini 76 TPHS is compact, at only 4 x 15 feet. The laminator can handle stock from 8 1/2 x 11 inches up to 30 x 40 inches in weights from 80 lb to 24 pt. The feeder is equipped with a mill skid plate, allowing a full pallet of print to be loaded directly from the press. Features include an adjustable anti-curl bar, pneumatically adjustable in-feed nip rollers and a clutch to give a constant film tension.

The solid construction means that the pressure in the nip rollers can be as much as six metric tonnes, which enables the model to successfully laminate stock printed litho or digitally. Facilities such as the quick-change airshaft, combined with the high level of automation, reduces operator involvement and allows training normally to be carried out within a couple of days.
