PraxisDialog 26: Quality assurance
Thursday 09. July 2009 - Quality is not a matter of chance
Perfection from the first sheet to the last: at PraxisDialog 26 held at manroland in Offenbach on 2 July 2009 around 70 guests learned all about quality assurance and measures to prevent errors. The highlight of the event was the presentation of a worlds first in the Print Technology Center. Consistently high print quality is what every customer and printer expects, but how is this achievable with very difficult subjects? Top results depend on perfect interplay of many factors – the operator, the press, the substrate, and also the system components. Standardized processes like Process Standard Offset (PSO) also make a significant contribution to premium results. At PraxisDialog 26, experts from manroland and printing industry associates gave talks on all these factors.
New: ROLAND InlineColorPilot (ICP)
The participants were given a live demonstration of premium level quality in the Print Technology Center. A six-color ROLAND 700 HiPrint with coating module and equipped with a ROLAND InlineObserver, which precisely monitors sheet travel, produced a job with screen tints and a packaging print sample. Then they witnessed the worlds first showing of the ROLAND InlineColorPilot (ICP) system on a ROLAND 700 DirectDrive. This inline ink density measurement and control system is integrated in the last printing unit and ensures constantly high print quality. It impresses with low cleaning requirements, fast reaction speed and is easily retrofitted – as Managing Director Dennis Bender from W.B. Druckerei GmbH in Hochheim, Germany, explained in his user report. Here the ROLAND InlineColorPilot has been field-tested for some time on a five-color ROLAND 900, XXL format 7B plus. Bender praised the simplicity of the system and how it greatly reduces the workload of his printers.
