To Read or not to Read – the New K4 Plug in Readabilities 2.0
Wednesday 08. July 2009 - From now on, to get a better idea of the readability of an article, K4 users can try the latest K4 plug in of vjoon's technology partner i.t.i.p GmbH: Readabilities 2.0 analyzes texts based on measurable text properties such as the used vocabulary, sentence length and complexity, average number of syllables just to name a few and rates them in different levels of difficulty.
This tool is especially interesting for schoolbook and special interest magazine publishers who are publishing for a specific reader group that differ in age or also in levels of education from general interest readers.
And this is how it works: By just one click any kind and portion of English or Spanish text is analyzed by Readabilities 2.0 with up to (at this point) 10 different scientifically proven methods. The Adobe InDesign or InCopy user gets readability level as a result after clicking within the K4 plug in dialog. K4 saves the information automatically in the database, enabling the user to filter his articles and layouts according to the readability criteria.
Readabilities 2.0 is available, at the moment, for Adobe InCopy CS3 and InDesign CS3 on both platforms MAC and Windows which means that for now only K4 5.9 users can benefit from the solution.
