GALA Launches in the Middle East

Monday 15. June 2009 - GALA makes its debut as a licensed edition in Syria and Lebanon

The Middle East edition of the celebrity lifestyle magazine is jointly published by Gruner + Jahr and the United Group. The latter also publishes “Marie Claire” under license, along with a number of its own premium titles.

The celebrity lifestyle magazine’s content, a high-quality mix of international and local stars, fashion, beauty and lifestyle articles, is closely based on the German edition of GALA. Its layout and look & feel come from GALA Deutschland, while the international content is delivered to the local editorial offices in Syria and Lebanon by GALA International.

The Editor-in-Chief of GALA Middle East is May Ziad, an experienced “people” journalist from Lebanon, who has held various leading positions in radio, television, newspaper and the prestigious pan-Arab women’s magazine “Laha.”

GALA Middle East will be published monthly in a print run of 15,000 copies and at a cover price of around 3 Euro.

“We are delighted to have a presence in the fast-growing Middle East region, an important target audience for advertisers, through GALA and to be further expanding the GALA brand in collaboration with our expert partner, United Group,” emphasized Kathrin Haase, Director of GALA International.
