Friday 12. June 2009 - Presstek digital offset press profitably fills the gap between toner-based and conventional offset with high quality, low cost-per-page short-run color printing

Presstek, Inc., a leading manufacturer and marketer of digital offset printing solutions, today reported successful participation at PacPrint 09, Australia’s premier printing and graphics expo held May 26-30 in Melbourne. Presstek featured its 52DI digital offset press at the show in conjunction with Grafika Links, Presstek’s Australian distributor.

“We were extremely pleased with the results of our PacPrint presence,” said Tim Sawyer, Sales Director for the Asia Pacific Rim Region. “The show was a big success for us, and there was significant interest from both Australia and New Zealand attendees. Printers clearly saw the value of being able to leverage the Presstek 52DI to provide high quality short run work without click charges while supporting a wide range of substrates. Visitors were also very impressed with the small environmental footprint of the 52DI press.”

The Presstek 52DI Digital Offset Press at PacPrint 09:
Demonstrations of Presstek’s highly automated 52DI landscape press were well-attended at the show by both conventional offset and digital printers looking for a faster and more profitable way to produce environmentally friendly, high-quality, short-run color printing. The Presstek 52DI press provides one of the lowest costs per page for quantities of 500 to 20,000 and fills the profitably gap between toner-based devices and conventional offset. Also critical to the market are the 52DI’s environmental credentials, including its on-press chemistry-free platemaking, waterless printing and dramatic reduction of overall waste.

The Presstek 52DI landscape digital offset press operates at a print speed of up to 10,000 impressions per hour with a maximum sheet size of 520 x 375 mm (20,000 letter-size pages per hour). The combination of Presstek 52DI’s waterless printing and on-press chemistry-free platemaking ensures precise registration and fast run-up. The DI’s ability to go from file to sellable color within 20 sheets provides fast turnaround with less makeready waste. Presstek DI digital offset presses expands capabilities with its ability to print on a wide range of substrates; from 0.06 mm to 0.5 mm thick. High quality is achieved with up to 300 lpi (120 l/cm) printing, as well as stochastic (FM) screening, without incurring additional time or expense.
