WoodWing Publishing Conference paved the way into the digital future
Tuesday 09. June 2009 - Themed "The fast track to Online" this years WoodWing Publishing Conference took place from May 13-15, 2009 in Athens, Greece. As in previous years the event emerged as one of the leading meeting points of publishing experts from all over the world.
More than 130 attendees from leading publishing houses, printing companies, ad agencies and authorized solution partners around the globe accepted the invitation to get the latest on workflow strategies especially for the future of the convergence of media.
Industry known keynote speakers like Dries Buytaert (Drupal founder; CTO and co-founder of Acquia, USA), Frits Habermann (VP Core Technologies, Adobe Systems), Samuel Huegli (Group CIO of Ringier, Switzerland) and Karl Schneider (Editorial Development Director RBI, UK) gave in-depth information on latest technologies and presented how they can be implemented in existing publishing environments. WoodWing offers a recording of the keynote of Frits Habermann
WoodWing presented new strategies to enable publishers to streamline their workflow and at the same time facilitate almost any publication channel. As a demonstration WoodWing showed a lively feed to Twitter, FaceBook, Flickr, YouTube, mobile, web and e-mail.
Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software, says: “More than ever publishers need to look at new sources of income, and they need to do it with a sense of urgency. With the WoodWing Publishing Conference we want to help publishers to address these challenges and to prepare their companies for what is coming next.”
Conference highly valued by attendees
Quite obviously, the mission of the conference was completed. Christian Glanzmann, Head of Editorial Systems at Ringier in Switzerland, summarizes his experience: “The conference was very valuable for me, as the in-depth discussions with WoodWing and the partners will lead us to even better solutions. The lectures and case studies help us to be perfectly primed for the digital future.”
Matthew Gunn, Production Director at the Yaffa Publishing Group Pty Ltd, one of Australia´s largest independent media companies, endorses: With the Yaffa Publishing Group halfway through a 35-magazine rollout, the conference was an ideal opportunity to converse with like-minded publishers and get an insight into other workflows through the case-studies and keynote speakers. Having the opportunity to see where WoodWing is headed, observe live demos from affiliated partners, and sit down and talk with the WoodWing development team enables me now to start planning the implementation of new products to further enhance our digital workflow.
The next opportunity to meet WoodWing and to see how WoodWing solutions cope with the challenges of the publishing future is the IFRA Expo 2009 taking place in Vienna (Austria) from October 12-15th, 2009.
